There was already a free hour parking Brèche car park in Niort. There will now be two. The City of Niort has decided to offer traders 30,000 one-hour free parking tickets. It is then up to them to distribute them to their customers.
The first tickets will be available from this Saturday 16 May. “Concretely, I go to town, I take the time because if I consume or if I visit a merchant, to see, I have the right to one free hour in addition to parking”, specifies Jérôme Baloge, the mayor of Niort.
Encouraging people to come by for help is only positive for us
“It’s a very good thing, parking is the main criterion for most of the people. Now, because of the events, to get people to come by for help is only positive for us”, says Karine Hayes, owner of the Optik des Halles and secretary of the Niort en Ville association.
On the other hand, the fines for non-payment of parking in the streets, interrupted since confinement, will resume from this Monday, May 18.
Exemption from the rights of occupation of the public domain
Another measure in Niort to help trade, abandonment of rights to occupy the public domain for restaurateurs, cafetiers, traders. They will not have to pay them in 2020. A measure that costs the city 238,000 euros.
“And when they reopen and they need a little more terrace, to the extent that public space allows it, we will also promote the spread of these terraces”, says Jérôme Baloge.
