The Jeunes Chanteurs d’Acadie choir is heading to the Big Apple where it will perform on the stage of one of the most coveted venues in the world, Carnegie Hall.
The Acadian ensemble will share the stage with six other Canadian choirs as part of the choral singing event, “Canada at Carnegie”, in New York. This is the first international trip since 2018 for this choir of young people aged 11 to 18. Under the direction of conductors Carrie Tennant and Jamie Hillman, the choristers will perform an all-Canadian program in French, English and Anishinaabemowin. They will be accompanied by a Canadian string quartet.
For the director of the choir, Nadine Hébert, this trip represents a wonderful learning opportunity for young people and an extraordinary experience.
“It’s an incredible opportunity for our young people to be able to work with choir directors of such high caliber, in addition to meeting young people from across the country who share their passion. […] Singing at Carnegie Hall is not a chance that is given to everyone and it is undoubtedly an experience that they will cherish all their lives.
The Jeunes Chanteurs d’Acadie choir, which has nearly fifty members, begins its journey on March 28.
