In New York, the use of face masks is mandatory – World

New York. New rules forcing New Yorkers to walk with their faces covered in public go into effect Friday night and residents are bracing for at least one more month of social distancing to try to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Under the rules announced by Governor Andrew Cuomo, all people in public places must have their faces covered with masks and sanitary masks when they cannot maintain the proper distance from others.

Children under two years of age and people who cannot tolerate the mask for health reasons are exempt. The rule goes into effect at 8 p.m. local time (0000 GMT).

Cuomo announced Thursday that the quarantine imposed on March 22 will continue until at least May 15. He said he made the decision in consultation with officials from other northeastern states and will reevaluate it next month.

U.S. April 9, 2020. The world power became the new epicenter of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to data from the World Health Organization (WHO). Despite the measures implemented by the government to contain the virus, it has claimed the lives of around 15 thousand 774 people and infected 432 thousand 438. Both the Americans and those who migrated to that nation have seen an unprecedented economic and social decline in the XXI century. Around 16.8 million citizens have lost their jobs in just three weeks.
