WEATHER – The big apple, all dressed in white. The forecast was correct. A mighty storm of snow covered numerous towns on the east coast of the United States, dont New York, after touching the capital Washington.
A winter storm warning was issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) over an area stretching from Virginia to Maine, populated by tens of millions of people. The NWS warned New Yorkers they should expect heavy snowfall on Monday, with “blizzard-like” conditions near the coast.
The mayor Bill de Blasio Declared a local state of emergency as the city of more than eight million people braced for the storm, limiting non-essential travel and keeping roads clear for emergency vehicles.
“This winter storm will be dangerous, with heavy snowfall and strong winds. If you can stay home, do it, ”he said on Twitter.

South of New York, northern New Jersey and part of Connecticut the snow cover could reach between 45 and 60 centimeters, according to the NWS. In Washington, snow began to fall overnight from Saturday to Sunday.
The NWS predicts a snow cover of up to 20 cm in the Washington and Baltimore, Maryland area. Residents of the federal capital rushed outside to enjoy the snow, building snowmen and sledding. The storm was expected to continue through Tuesday, ending in a mixture of ice and freezing rain.
According to a White House official, President Joe Biden convened advisers on Sunday to discuss “a range of topics, including the approach of the winter storm”, as well as coronavirus vaccines and the economic bailout .
