British Prime Minister Liz Truss met with Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Jugnauth at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Wednesday. Both welcomed recent steps taken to strengthen relations between the UK and Mauritius, including through a new security dialogue and strategic trade partnership.
Liz Truss and Pravind Jugnauth also discussed the future of Britain’s Indian Ocean territory, in particular Mauritius’s claim to sovereignty over the Chagos. They also agreed on the importance of democracies working together to defend freedom in the world.
