Elton John and Brandi Carlile release their new original song “Never Too Late”, a collaboration between these longtime friends, an original song inspired and written specifically for the new Disney+ documentary entitled “Elton John: Never Too Late”. A story that talks about happiness and redemption through love and family: “Never Too Late” accompanies the closing credits of the film of which it represents the perfect ending.
Already presented at festivals in Toronto, New York and London, Elton John: Never Too Late debuts in theaters before arriving on Disney+ on December 13th. The documentary, directed by RJ Cutler and David Furnish, follows Elton as he traces his life and the surprising early years of his fifty-year career on an emotional journey. The eponymous song “Never Too Late” was co-written in summer 2023 by Elton and eleven-time Grammy-winning American superstar Brandi Carlile as Elton settled into life away from the stage after completing his record-breaking tour, Farewell Yellow Brick Road.
“When Brandi told me that she was so inspired by the initial version of the documentary and that she wanted us to write a new song together, I was thrilled. She perfectly captured the essence of the documentary and why I stopped touring to spend more time with my family. I am constantly amazed by his mastery: he manages to convey my voice in a way that only Bernie has managed to do in the past” commented Elton John.
“Never Too Late” is produced and co-written by multiple Grammy winner Andrew Watt: like Brandi, Watt also has a long history of collaborations with Elton John.
