The beginning of November is the last moment to reach a trade agreement between Britain and the European Union. This view was expressed by the French Minister for European Affairs, who recalled that ratification of any treaty would take time. Earlier, the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said that the talks should be completed by mid-October.

Fisheries remain one of the biggest stumbling blocks in trade negotiations between the European Union and the United Kingdom. It is particularly important for France, as one of the countries geographically close to the United Kingdom, that its fishermen continue to be able to use British waters under the current conditions.
That is why French Maritime Minister Annika Girardán said in a newspaper interview that the current UK proposals in the field of fisheries were not acceptable. Compared to them, it would be better for French fishermen not to have any agreement with Britain at all.
Boris Johnson’s government, meanwhile, continues to reiterate that Britain is an independent coastal state and that fishing was one of the biggest issues of debate before the Brexit referendum. The United Kingdom would therefore like to significantly restrict access to its waters for European Union fishermen and, like Norway, set annual fishing quotas.
However, French Maritime Minister Girardán acknowledged that without an agreement with Britain, France and the European Union as a whole would have to think about additional support for their fishermen and other coastal residents.
In another interview, the French Minister for European Affairs, Clement Bons, added that the deadline for concluding a trade agreement would be the beginning of November. This is because ratification of the treaty by the European and national parliaments takes sufficient time. Mr Bons added that the European Union must remain calm and maintain its current tactics in the last weeks of the talks. Otherwise, you can make concessions at the last minute that you will later regret.
As you know, the British Prime Minister Johnson has previously said that a trade agreement should be found before the summit of European Union leaders scheduled for the end of next week. However, there is no evidence that this is possible.
