The Sport Santé Famille association has been located in premises of the former Maurice-Guyot high school, in Montluçon, since February 25, 2022.
Previously housed in the public hospital center, it is not a simple move for this structure born in November 2018 in support of women with breast cancer or in remission. This change corresponds to a new associative project.
Two groups around breast cancer
“Of course, we keep the identity ‘breast cancer'”, specifies the president and sports educator Frédéric Ferrandon. Two groups are formed. There is functional rehabilitation through sport for all women undergoing treatment, with adapted Nordic walking and fencing. The well-being workshop is intended “for all our alumni. They do the same things, but in different ways.”
Yoga from May and sophrology in October
All will be able to benefit from May 2 from yoga sessions and from October, from sophrology sessions. By the summer, fitness equipment (bicycle, rowing machine, treadmill) will also be made available to them.
The association now has about fifteen members and it seeks out patients thanks to links with “the hospital, the doctors, the association Entraide Cancer du Sein, the Ligue contre le Cancer, the Jean-Perrin center” , Frédéric Ferrandon list.
Workshops for sick children

Finally, in January 2023, the association opens up to all people with cancer or in remission. This development is accompanied by the search for new funding. “The annual budget will reach 35/36,000 €, against a little more than half today. »
Appointment. A discovery afternoon is organized on Saturday April 30, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., on the site of the former Maurice-Guyot high school. “Even if you are not sick, come and meet us and we can provide you with answers for people you know,” insists Frédéric Ferrandon.
