A dozen supporters of the Popular Union gathered this Sunday evening, April 10, at the village hall of Désertines (Allier), to listen together to the results and speeches of the first round of the presidential election 2022.

Connected to their phones, around a table, the wait was long for these supporters of Jean-Luc Mélenchon. Despite the announcements of the polls, hope remained palpable until the last second.

Louise Héritier does not despair either. The young woman recalls the activist work carried out in recent months: “We have more activists than five years ago. We did a lot of work, especially with young people and people who live in neglected neighborhoods. Our goal is for them to take ownership of the program. Because in our view, the central question in politics today is social. »

A long-term job
Even if the two leaders would have preferred to avoid a Macron / Le Pen debate, “meaningless” with regard to the imperatives of the time, they especially remember these almost six months of hard work and meetings according to the tracts . For Michel Beaune, this painstaking work should make it possible to maintain the links to do even better next time.

From now on, Louise Héritier and Michel Beaune hope to be able to count on this dynamic as a fulcrum for the party to score well in the legislative elections.
In Montluçon, the instructions are the same as those announced by Jean-Luc Mélenchon. “As announced by our candidate, our goal now is to block Marine Le Pen. We will follow his instructions: everything except the extreme right. Vote white, null or Macron. Despite the disappointment, the fight has only just begun for these supporters of the Union Populaire.
