In Love in the Snow – A Winter in Colorado (Original title: Winter in Vail) is a 2020 Canadian-American romantic comedy film directed by Terry Ingram. It stars Lacey Chabert as Chelsea and Tyler Hynes as Owen.
Event manager Chelsea is presenting her latest event to her boss Trish. However, she is interrupted while planning and then finds out from her colleague Vienna that she might be in the interview for the deputy. However, this turns out to be wrong as she is supposed to pick up the new deputy and familiarize him with his new surroundings. When she finds out over the phone that her uncle has died and left his estate to her, she makes the decision to quit her job and move to the estate in Vail.
When she arrives in Vail, she is first informed by a postman, who later turns out to be Owen, that she is parked in the pedestrian zone and will be towed away at any moment. In the local supermarket she notices that the “normal” food only represents a small part of the range and that instead there are many German specialties such as mulled wine and spaetzle to buy, which are given to her by Molly, the waitress Edelweiss-Restaurant that is recommended.
When she arrived at the chalet, she noticed that her uncle was busy renovating the entire house before his death, which is why she spent the first night wrapped up in several blankets in bed. The real estate agent Bev calls the local craftsman, who comes by a short time later. It’s Owen who admits that the two of them got off to a bad start together and should start over. He starts by repairing the heating and then the two go into the room Edelweissto have dinner. There she learns that her uncle was the restaurant’s master pastry chef and that many tourists came here because of his outstanding apple strudel. But now very few tourists come to the Edelweiss, which is why the owner Karl, who is Owen’s father, fears for his existence.
The next morning she is woken up at 6:00 a.m. by the craftsmen Owen and Rob, who continue with the renovation work. Owen invites her to snow tire driving in the afternoon. They also meet Rob and Molly and they have a lot of fun together. Although Chelsea is looking for orders, she can’t find any offers. When she finds her uncle’s apple strudel recipe, an idea comes to her: She plans to organize a strudel festival in Vail where everyone can participate and celebrate the existence of the apple strudel Edelweiss can be saved. Owen and the other Vail residents are enthusiastic about the proposal, and Chelsea goes straight to event planning. She is planning a competition to see who can bake the best strudel. She is inviting the three most popular restaurateurs in the area to form the jury.
During the preparations, she visits her old colleague Vienna, who comes on behalf of her former boss Trish: The new deputy is a disaster, which is why her boss would resort to any means necessary to get Chelsea back into her team. She is even offered the position of new deputy. Chelsea is conflicted: on the one hand, she has worked for the role of deputy for many years, but on the other hand, she has come to love her life in Vail and doesn’t want to leave the city because of Owen, for whom she has developed feelings. With a heavy heart, she decides to return to LA and take up the deputy position. At her old job she realizes that she misses her quiet life in Vail, including Owen.
Owen tells Karl that he is at the prestigious hotel Sebastian received a contract as an architect to build another hotel wing. Karl tells him that Edelweiss is again in the new travel guide, which is due to the strudel festival. He realizes that Owen also had feelings for Chelsea and asks him why he let her go. Since Owen’s tools from the renovation work are still in the chalet, he sets off to get them at Bev’s request.
When he arrives at the chalet, he notices that the front door is open. He finds Chelsea on the balcony looking at the starry sky. She tells him that she has regretted her decision to leave Vail and is now getting a lot of requests for event planning from Vail. Her decision to return to Vail is also due to her longing for Owen and after she tells him this, the two kiss.

Recordings took place from November 13, 2019 to December 5, 2019 in Vail and Calgary. The ski lift scenes were filmed at the Mount Norquay ski resort. The Italian Farmhouse in Bragg Creek was used for the Edelweiss restaurant.
The film received mostly positive reviews and achieved an average rating of 7.0 out of a possible 10 points on IMDb.
