In Lorient, the Franco-Ukrainian community united and mobilized [Vidéo] – Lorient-Ukraine: so far, so close

They are called Lena, Kira or Yulia, they have lived in Brittany for two, three or fifteen years and have known each other for a few days or forever. These women of Ukrainian origin met this Tuesday noon to share, exchange and support each other.

Olga is staring at her phone. Ivan, her 19-year-old son, is currently in a bunker in Kiev. “I am always online on Messenger, Whatsapp, Telegram with my son. Every minute I hold my phone in my hands to be in touch. This morning, he wrote me a message but for about three hours, I have nothing. I wrote to him but he hasn’t read it yet.

Breton husbands are also mobilizing. They have just organized a spontaneous humanitarian aid. Two trucks have already left for Poland since Sunday. In a few days, another will leave Lorient, to help and relieve, as much as possible, the victims of this war in Ukraine.
