Monday July 12, the President of the Republic Emmanuel announces the obligation of the health pass to access many places. A decision that prompted hundreds of people to demonstrate in the streets of Lille against compulsory vaccination.
“Freedom ! Freedom !“chanted the demonstrators on Wednesday July 14 in Lille. Several hundred people gathered to express their disagreement against the obligation of the health pass to access places of culture and leisure, bars, cafes, restaurants or even shopping centers.
As a reminder, the health pass contains either a complete vaccination certificate (one or two doses depending on the case), or a PCR or antigen test. It will be mandatory to enter certain places in the coming days.

The demonstration began at the Place de la République, passed through the Grand-Place, in front of the Westfield Euralille shopping center, whose entrance was blocked, before returning to its starting point.
“Hands off my caregiver”
The demonstration also concerned the vaccination obligation for all caregivers, decided by President Emmanuel Macron and announced during his speech on July 12. From now on, all the medical and administrative staff of hospitals and EHPAD but also home helpers must be vaccinated. In case of refusal, they will be sanctioned until they are deprived of work and no longer be paid from September 15.
“Vaccine or not, it’s our choice“, “No to the health pass“, “For kids“, “Beat you !“… are all slogans that were chanted throughout the march. The objective of the demonstrators: to have the right to dispose of their bodies and to refuse the vaccine against Covid-19, like the banner”my body, my choice, my life“.

Lille is not the only city concerned by such a mobilization. This was also the case in Calais but also outside Hauts-de-France: Paris, Montpellier, Marseille …
Several thousand people took to the streets to express their disapproval of the new health measures, seen as “binding“and”liberticides“.
