Preslav Georgiev is the boy who already sees the world through Danaya’s eyes. The girl fell into brain death, and his parents, without hesitation, decided to donate their daughter’s organs. Both kidneys were transplanted, as well as the corneas of the 15-year-old girl. Preslav himself asked to meet Danaya’s mother. “I don’t know how to explain it to you. I felt them close. He told me he loved me, to be good. We will hear from each other, we will see each other”, said the transplanted boy.
Preslav was Danaya’s age when doctors said he would be on the waiting list for a cornea transplant. “We went for laser procedures, but the cornea began to thin and there was no chance for him to undergo laser treatment, because the disease could not be stopped, and from there we had to put him on the transplant waiting list,” recalls the boy’s father Valery Nedyalkov .
Two years of waiting and hopes began to seem futile until a phone call days ago changed their lives. “They called us 3 days ago and told us that they found a donor for Preslav”, says the boy’s mother Rumyana Ivanova.
Against the background of the joy of the chance to regain the sight of his right eye, Preslav’s parents do not hide the immense pain of the death of a 15-year-old child. “Our sympathies go out to the family. They lose a young child. We can’t be happy. You just can’t be happy or anything. No one should be forced to do such a thing,” said Valeri Nedyalkov to “Nova”.
Thus, the world of two completely unknown families suddenly became common.
