While implementing the project “Portraits of Street Art in the Streets of Liepāja”, a graffiti artist from Italy OZMO arrived in Liepāja to create a mural, Mareks Alberts, co-owner of the Liepāja beach cafe “Red Sun Buffet Beach Bar”, informed LETA.
The artist will visit Liepaja until the end of July to create a symbolic representation of the sea, wind and seductive city in a modern performance on the more than 150 square meters (m2) wall of the house at 24 Pasta Street, while preserving OZMO’s characteristic references to world-famous works of art and mythological images.
“Large-format works of art in the urban environment are a fast-growing expression of art around the world, making high-level performance accessible to everyone and making art a daily commodity for every passer-by, not just a gallery,” explains Albert.
He explained that this project will have three works by the autumn of this year, which will complement the map of the city’s tourist attractions and offer quality masonry art. “I very much hope that the successfully launched initiative will one day grow into an annual masonry art festival,” added Albert.
OZMO is an Italian artist who started his creative career by creating comics, but soon turned to writing and painting. In 2001, he entered the Florence Academy of Visual Arts in Milan, collaborating with the world’s largest art galleries. Shortly afterwards, the nickname OZMO became known for its impressive wall paintings.
The project “Portraits of Street Art in the Streets of Liepāja” was created with the financial support of the Liepāja Culture Department and co-financing of the Liepāja Beach Bar “Red Sun Buffet Beach Bar”.
