In Le Havre, Siemens blows headwinds

So goes the energy transition. The Porte Océane loses with one hand what it gains with the other. The rise of renewables and the simultaneous deceleration of the gas and oil extractivist industry will have triggered the construction of a plant for offshore wind … but will have been right at the Dresser Rand plant.

Its parent company, Siemens Energy France, announced this week that it wanted to close the last manufacturing unit of this industrial site, emblematic of the industrial golden age of Le Havre.

No more production of compressors for fossil extraction, the group will only keep on site the 260 employees (out of 560) assigned to service and maintenance activities ….
