In short, 2021 will be a year of vaccination, lots of social struggles and change. Well, what scenario is that developing in?
In Latin America the favorable winds from the Andes are already blowing. The elections in Argentina and Bolivia and the deepening crisis in Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia already show that we will have changes on the path of progress of the left.
In February we have elections in Ecuador, then in Peru and then in Chile. The progressive forces will win these three elections and that will subsequently upset the balance of power in Latin America. Only Brazil remains ruled on the right, along with Colombia, which is already facing many social problems,
I also believe that Joe Biden’s administration is not the same as Donald Trump’s, even if it represents the interests of capital. But Biden will have a different policy. Not that it is in our favor, but for better cooperation and more democracy. You cannot treat Latin America the way Trump and “Mr. Pompeo” did.
Here in Brazil we are changing the balance of power through the class struggle. Our duty is to organize the working class to stimulate mass struggle.
I am confident that if we can ensure access to the vaccine for all, it will give us the ability and space to mobilize, wage a mass struggle, change the balance of power, and pave the way for a new project to pave for our land.
