April 28 in the forests near Kazlų Rūda, the WA Field landscape archery competition organized by the archery club “Ugnine strėlė” took place. Competitions of this format are quite popular in the world, high-level competitions are also held, such as the world, European championships, world games – it is good that this event is also gaining more and more popularity in Lithuania. In landscape archery competitions, archers shoot qualifying competitions on a course laid out in a forest or hilly area, where targets of different sizes are placed at known and unknown distances and at various angles. After passing the qualifying competition, the archers meet in the playoffs, where they fight for medals. In these competitions, the ability of archers to adapt to different conditions, the ability to evaluate distances, angles and various other factors is revealed.
3 representatives of Alytus archers’ club “Žaliasis lankas” also tested their strength in the WA Field competition this time. Inga Timinskiene, who started in the joint group of men’s and women’s hoops, was the best this time. Having secured the leading position in the qualifying competition, she did not let go of this position in the playoffs either. For the gold medal in the final, I. Timinskienė fought with her husband, Ugniis Timinskas. The winner of the persistent duel was revealed only in the last series, and this time luck smiled on I. Timinskiene, while U. Timinskien got the silver.
ASRC-Žaliasis representative Emilis Tamulionis started in the Olympic hoops group in this competition. In the qualifying competition, he was second, but in the playoffs, he lacked some success and had to settle for third place.
Already next week, 3 Alytus archers are leaving for the European Archery Championship to be held in Germany. Paulina Ramanauskaitė will start in the Olympic hoops group, Inga Timinskienė and Rolandas Baranauskas in the pulley group.
