The construction of three drinking water desalination plants in Alta Guajira is in limbo, as the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management refuses to continue and finish the work that will benefit the drinking water crisis for these communities -injured in the area.

For this reason, through a letter, the Wayúu authorities from Irraipa, Bahía Honda and Puerto Estrella, towns of Uribia, Guajira, request the help of the Attorney General’s Office so that the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management does not paralyze are built, which by decision of its current director, is undefined.

The communication was signed by David Rodríguez Viloria, traditional authority of Kulesiamana, Julián Carreño, resident of JAC Puerto Estrella and Misael Freyles Estrada, from the traditional community of Plauriarao in the area of ​​Bahía Honda.

It was learned that the company Tecnoaguas SAS reported that the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management has not transferred about 40,000 million pesos, which delayed the completion of the work, to provide the precious liquid to workers residence of three townships.

The construction is 30 percent complete and to complete it it is necessary to obtain these resources, which is why the company has asked the control bodies to monitor this process and make decisions for the benefit the affected communities.
