The capital’s law enforcement officers detained policemen from the Dnipropetrovsk region, who kidnapped a man, and then demanded a monetary reward. In case of refusal, police officers threatened to arrest the victim.

“According to the investigation, law enforcement officers arrived in the city of Kiev on February 9, 2022 to search a citizen’s home as part of criminal proceedings regarding possible fraud. After conducting a search, unlawfully, without drawing up any procedural documents, they detained the owner of the housing – a resident of the city of Kiev and placed him before his car,” the report says.
The police demanded to provide them with 12 thousand dollars and threatened to arrest the victim. On the same day, law enforcement officers received $6,300 in bribes.
A criminal case was initiated on this fact under Part 2 of Article 146, Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
“Priority investigative actions are being carried out now, all the circumstances of the criminal offense are being established. The issue of informing the detainees about suspicion and the election of preventive measures is being resolved,” the Prosecutor General’s Office added.
