In Kiev prepared for the evacuation of all residents in case of Russian invasion – KSCA

In the event of the outbreak of hostilities, residents of the capital will be evacuated at will. Only workers of critical infrastructure and the Armed Forces of Ukraine will remain in the city.

Director of the Department of Municipal Security of the Kyiv City State Administration Roman Tkachuk on the air of Hromadske Radio declaredthat in the event of the outbreak of hostilities in Kiev, a complete evacuation of the population will be carried out.

“In the event of hostilities, evacuation will be carried out, and only critical infrastructure workers and the Armed Forces will remain in the city,” the official said.

According to him, the evacuation of Kiev residents will be carried out on a voluntary basis – whoever does not want to leave can stay in the city. Tkachuk also noted that each district of the capital has its own evacuation plan, according to which a place for gathering citizens will be determined if necessary.

Tkachuk added that in the event of hostilities, the metro will only operate for 6 hours: three hours in the morning and three hours in the evening. The rest of the time the metro stations will be used as shelter.

The city will not be completely paralyzed, since both ground and underground transport will operate to ensure the operation of critical infrastructure facilities. And water and energy supply facilities will work in an enhanced mode, the official noted.

Recall that, if necessary, in the protective structures of Kiev could shelter more than about 2.8 million people. As reported in the Kyiv City State Administration, 47 underground premises, 272 underground passages and 409 car parks can be used as shelter in the capital.

Andriy Krishchenko, deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration for municipal security, said that in the event of hostilities, the authorities of Kiev will warn residents of the danger not only with the help of sirens, but also through warning and warning systems.
