In January 2022, 49.9 thousand people were served in tourist accommodation. The population of Latvia, which is 63.3% more than in January 2021. The number of nights spent by local residents was 86.8 thousand, which is an increase of 45.3% compared to January last year.
The most popular accommodation places for Latvian residents were in Riga, where 31.4% of guests stayed, in Jurmala – 17%, in Liepaja – 6.6%, in Cesis region – 5.2%, in Sigulda region – 4.2% and in Daugavpils – 4.2% .
In January 2022, 37.1% or 29.4 thousand of all guests served in tourist accommodation establishments. there were foreign visitors, which is four times more than in January 2021, but it is 3.8 times less than in January 2020 before the pandemic began. Compared to January of the previous year, the number of nights spent by foreign guests has increased 3.1 times and was 59.8 thousand.
Most foreign guests were received from Lithuania (4.5 thousand), Estonia (3.6 thousand), Germany (3 thousand), United Kingdom (2.2 thousand), Ukraine (1.9 thousand), Russia (1.6 thousand) and Poland (1.5 thousand).
Most foreign guests were received in Riga – 81.9%, Jurmala – 4.4%, Liepaja – 2.8% and Sigulda region – 2.6%.
