In Italy, the police deliver the kidneys… in Lamborghinis

Italian police have revealed they crossed Italy in a Lamborghini to deliver two kidneys to patients awaiting transplants. The journey, which connects Padua to Modena and then to Rome, was traveled at more than 300 km/h.

A rather special delivery took place in Italy. Police officers drove through part of Italy in a Lamborghini on Tuesday (December 20) to deliver two kidneys to patients awaiting a transplant, Italian police announced on on the Facebook page.

Delivery at 325 km/h

Departing Padua (northeast) on Tuesday, they delivered a kidney to hospital in Modena, 170km away, before heading to Rome, more than 400km away, to deliver the second.

The Italian Traffic Police is equipped with two Lamborghini Huracàn, cars that develop over 600 horsepower for a maximum speed of 325 km/h. They are used to intercept the offending vehicles but are also used for other urgent interventions, such as the transport of organs.

In 2019, a medical center in the United States delivered a kidney for transplant to a hospital five miles away using a drone. It was a world first. The flight had lasted less than ten minutes.
