In Italy, doctors are suing against compulsory vaccination

Vaccination in Italy

In April, Italy passed a law that obliges everyone working in the health sector to get vaccinated against the coronavirus.

Three hundred medical professionals in Italy have filed a lawsuit to challenge the requirement for compulsory vaccination against coronavirus, according to The Local.

The case, brought by doctors from all over northern Italy, will be considered on July 14.

“This is not an anti-vaccine battle, but a democratic battle. We put people at risk that they will no longer be allowed to pursue their profession,” said constitutional lawyer Daniele Granara, who helped build the case.

Granara also protects dozens of educators who were suspended from work for refusing to vaccinate.

In April, Italy passed a law that obliges anyone working in public or private health care jobs, including pharmacies and treatment rooms, to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or be suspended from work without pay if their employer does not can appoint them to another position.

According to the latest official figures, 45,750 of Italy’s 1.9 million health workers have not yet received a single dose of the vaccine.
