In Israel, restaurants, cafes and bars have reopened on Sunday, March 7, in line with the easing plan promoted by the rapid vaccination campaign.
Indoor restaurants and cafes cater only to visitors with so-called “green passports”, which certify that a person has been vaccinated against or contracted the new coronavirus.
Other visitors are served on the outdoor terraces.
Israel launched a “green passport” program last month, allowing people who have received such a certificate to visit gyms, swimming pools and other places.
This is the third step in easing the restrictions imposed in the fight against the pandemic.
A large proportion of students who have so far studied remotely are also returning to schools. Vaccinated students are allowed to return to universities from Sunday, although universities have warned they need more time to prepare. But unvaccinated students will continue to have to study remotely.
In Israel, more than 50% of the population has already received the first dose of Pfizer vaccine, and almost 40% have also received the second.
