Police say around ten suspects are suspected of online sex offenses. The publication of this information was authorized this Tuesday morning by the police.
The arrest came after a police officer pretended to be a 14-year-old boy prostituting himself on the internet through a famous app (Whatsapp).
Police said the investigation lasted for several months.
Dozens of adult men approached the young teenager, even though they knew he was a minor, and engaged in correspondence with him with blatant sexual content.
As part of the correspondence, the suspects sent photos with sexual content, nude photos of themselves or those who claimed to do so, video files with pornographic content and asked the minor to take a nude photo of himself and send it to them.
Subsequently, some of the suspects sought to arrange a physical sexual encounter with the “agent”, in return for monetary payment of various amounts.
Police arrested three suspects on Monday evening, after two of them met the “minor” with whom they had corresponded.
This Tuesday morning, seven other suspects aged 30 to 60 were arrested.
Due to its seriousness, scope and consequences, investigating the phenomenon of underage prostitution on the internet is one of the objectives of Unit 105.
Over the past year, a number of cases have been carried out on the ground and various indictments have been filed against suspects accused of sexual relations with minors.
It should be noted that those suspected of such offenses operate under cover-up, using sophisticated methods, including fictitious profiles and applications that allow anonymous recording.
According to the police, all of this is justified by the challenge of persuading minors to engage in prostitution.
Later today and in accordance with the needs of the investigation, the suspects will be brought to trial in Rishon Lezion Magistrates’ Court.
