Irapuato, Guanajuato.- In IrapuatoGuanajuato, the first donor transplant was performed with Covid 19in the General Hospital of the City, it is a 16-year-old boy who died of brain death when he was shot on April 4 and who received the transplant, is a 12-year-old girl with Alagille syndrome.
What is Alaguille syndrome? it is a disease that affects several organs; the liver, brain, heart, eyes, face, and skeleton. It affects one in every 100,000 live births.
The person who suffers from it may present problems: hepatic (in the liver), nutritional, heart (cardiac), distinctive facial features (person may have a broad, prominent forehead, deep-set eyes, and a small, pointed chin), neurological, vascular, kidney, bone, ocular and pancreatic insufficiency.

Donor Juan, 16 years old, was originally from Abasoloafter he lost his life due to a gunshot attack and was diagnosed with brain death, his mother decided to donate his organs. The medical team was very careful when carrying out all the pertinent studies to carry out the transplant successfully. Juan was first given the PCR test for SARS-CoV-2, which was positive. The medical staff analyzed the chest X-rays and the results of the laboratory tests to which Juan was subjected.
The test data showed no pneumonia lesions due to COVID or affectation in any part of the system, the decision by health personnel to carry out the transplant was made consciously and quickly because it would be difficult to find another donor with the same blood type B+ in addition to the serious condition of the 12-year-old patient.
