In India, security forces killed 26 Maoist militants

According to police, a detachment of law enforcement officers discovered a group of militants in a forest in the Gadchiroli area in the east of Maharashtra state (central India).

As a result of the battle, which lasted several hours, 26 Maoists were eliminated. Three commandos were seriously injured.

The Gadchiroli area is one of the hotbeds of Maoism, located in the mineral-rich regions of central and eastern India, where tens of thousands of militants are confronting government forces.

According to Indian sources recording manifestations of terrorism, approximately 11,000 people have died in the country since 2000 as a result of Maoist violence.
