The rain and the cold did not stop the most motivated. Many families have gathered, alongside elected officials from Chartres and the association The Showcases of Chartres (Eure-et-Loir), this Friday, December 3, 2021, for the launch Christmas lights.
The magical moment, which marks the start of the Christmas festivities in Chartres, took place on the cathedral esplanade. The 12-meter-high tree was illuminated to the applause of the inhabitants and the new scenography of Chartres en lumière was projected.
The giant soldiers offered some beautiful photos with the little ones, before starting their stroll in the city center, to discover the illuminations …

The teens opted, unsurprisingly, for the skating rink
A few hundred meters further on, at the same time, dozens of teenagers were massing the entrance to the ice rink, on the Place des Epars. Admission is free this Friday evening, until 9 p.m. The sanitary pass is required to enter the track.
