In Hungary, foreign drivers will have to pay more for fuel than residents per day

A decision was published in the Hungarian Official Gazette shortly before midnight on Thursday, according to which cars with foreign number plates for petrol and diesel fuel can no longer pay the official fixed price of HUF 480 (1.22 euros) per liter.

Instead, foreign drivers now have to pay the market price for fuel, and the media reports that it is, on average, 40% higher than the official price.

The Hungarian government set an official fixed price for fuel last November to protect the country’s population from rising global fuel prices. Currently, this regulation is valid until July 1.
