“May there be peace for war-torn Ukraine, which has been so severely tested by the violence and devastation of the brutal and senseless war in which it was drawn,” the pope called for.
“Our eyes are also looking in disbelief at this Easter of war,” he added. “Let the leaders listen to the people’s requests for peace. (..) For a decision to be made on peace, ”the pope called.
“Our hearts are also filled with fear and horror,” the pope said when he saw what was happening in Ukraine.
“I carry in my heart all the many Ukrainian victims, the lives of millions of refugees and internally displaced persons, broken families, old people left alone, and the cities flattened to the ground,” the pope said.
He also mentioned human suffering in other conflicts, including the Middle East, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Myanmar and Africa.
“May the peace of Christ overcome us!” called Francis. “Peace is possible, peace is a duty, peace is everyone’s main responsibility!” stressed Francis.
