In Guingamp, the history of the prison on totems

Since July, at the beginning of the summer season, visitors to the old prison of Guingamp have been able to enhance their experience thanks to the four totems installed in cells on the ground floor. The texts are taken from the book by Emmanuel Loat, associate professor of history and geography, “The Guingamp prison: from 1841 to the present”, published in 2021, two years from after the end of the rehabilitation work.

To carry out this project, which “responds to public demand,” Inséac’s teacher called two colleagues, Nicolas Perrigault and Damien Malinas. This communication tool was appreciated during the summer season, on guided tours organized by the tourist office. It will also be during Heritage Days, 21 and 22 September, with the old prison being one of the most visited sites.
