Very controversial man, artist, politician, television and radio host, Ibo Simon died this Saturday, at the age of 81, following a long illness. He was first known as a singer. One of his titles, released in 1979 Even If I Should Die Someday, was a huge success. He became a host of Canal 10 TV and gained popularity. He called them – they appreciated his outrageous and often racist words of him. The Haitians, the Dominicans were in his eyes the enemies of Guadeloupe and benefited from the generosity of the country. He was also supported by the late Raymond Viviès, a colorful politician. At that time, he became a real star and decided to enter politics with some success. Having become a city councilor, he was even elected regional councilor in 1995. In 2001 he was convicted by the courts of incitement to racial hatred and was deprived of his civil rights. Little by little, his personal setbacks: he had been accused of sexual touches by a woman he had picked up – and the disease took him off the public eye.
