A nursing home in the Greek city of Volos has fired 10 employees and stopped paying them salaries because they refused to be vaccinated against coronavirus, DPA reported.
Such a measure is being applied for the first time in Greece, the agency notes. On the island of Rhodes, six nursing home employees have also been fired, Greek state radio ERT reported today, quoted by BTA.
In July, the Greek government passed legislation requiring nursing home workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by August 16th.
On September 1, a similar deadline expires for doctors and all health professionals. After this date, they can also be fired if they refuse vaccination.
