In Gölshausen: Concert by the Bretten district brass choir

Bretten-Gölshausen (red) The Protestant trombone choir Gölshausen is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year. The Bretten District Brass Choir (BBC) is giving the Gölshausen brass musicians a special gift with a concert of the finest brass music on Sunday afternoon, October 13th, at 5 p.m. in the Gölshausen Protestant Church.

Founded in 1960

The Bretten district brass choir was founded in 1960 by the then district cantor Ernst Daubenberger as one of the first ensembles of its kind in Baden. Since 1994, the choir has been under the direction of Matthias Gromer, who was a trombonist in the Mannheim National Theater orchestra until 2017 and is now a professor of trombone at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf.
The ensemble (currently nine trumpets, one horn, nine trombones, one tuba) consists of wind players from the entire Bretten-Bruchsal church district. In recent years it has acquired an excellent reputation for first-class sacred wind music, far beyond the boundaries of its own church district.

High level

The high level of the BBC was also documented in 2010, on the occasion of its 50th anniversary, with the CD recording “Fröhlich triumphiert”. The focus of the repertoire today is arrangements written specifically for the ensemble and contemporary original works.
In addition to a lively concert activity, the ensemble’s tasks include helping to organize church services (e.g. “Melanchthon television services”), evening music for choir anniversaries, district trombone days and events at district and state level.

All lovers of sophisticated and professional brass music are warmly invited to this concert. Admission is free, donations are welcome. On Sunday, October 27th, the trombone choir will celebrate its 125th anniversary in a festive brass service at 10 a.m. The Gölshäuser are supported by the brass players of the Bretten Trombone Choir.
