In Germany, a hotel collapsed, one dead and nine people under the rubble

There were 14 people in the hotel at the time of the accident. The five managed to escape unharmed and are being cared for by emergency services, police headquarters announced Wednesday morning. According to the latest information, nine people are trapped under the rubble, many of them seriously injured. The rescuers are in contact with some of the survivors, the police confirmed.

A small child was also among those who fell. Shortly before nine, they managed to free the child and the young woman with him. It is not yet clear if they are related and it is a mother with a child, he writes Bild newspaper. The latest information from the rescuers says that they managed to get four people out of the collapsed hotel.

Rescue work is very difficult. As there is a real risk of the entire building collapsing, the firemen have not entered it yet. Instead, a special group for technical assistance and a unit with dogs from Trier are involved.

They try to monitor the stability of the building by using specific measurement points and determine what the possibilities are to save those who have collapsed. Drones are circling above the hotel so that the authorities can get a view of the interior and better assess the situation.

The cause of the accident is not clear. For safety reasons, the surrounding houses were also evacuated. Their residents are currently in the local gym, where volunteers look after them. The police are asking people from the surrounding area to avoid the area around the town of Kröv, the local traffic artery is closed.
