In mid-Germany, five people were injured on the evening of Friday, July 23, when the hot air balloon they were in was forced into an emergency landing.
The balloon was hit by a gust of wind at an altitude of 400 meters near the town of Schlitz in Hessen, police said.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the balloon then collapsed and fell to the ground.
Two people were seriously injured – a 43-year-old passenger dragged several meters on the ground and her 44-year-old husband who fell out of a balloon basket.
Another married couple and a 65-year-old balloon pilot were slightly injured.
Experts are examining this balloon to determine the cause of the crash.
