For the first time this season, the Knicks are playing in front of their fans. In front of them, a team of the Warriors which remains on two losses in a row. As always, Draymond Green is present at the creation. His assists for Stephen Curry and Kelly Oubre Jr are the perfect start to this match. All-Star for the first time in his career and acclaimed early in the game, Julius Randle responds to Green and he shows that he is also very important in the collective game of his team. Despite its activity, it is Golden State which dominates this start of the meeting (20-12).
But Randle continues to ramp up and his power is hurting the Warriors a lot. Having become a very complete player, he scores at 3 points and when the defense tries to catch two, he comes out perfectly. Back on the field, James Wiseman brings a lot in the racket then Curry at 3-points allows Golden State to finish this quarter in the lead (36-31).
D-Rose still precious
Known for their jokers out of the bench, the Knicks attack this second act with great determination. The pair Derrick Rose / Immanuel Quickley made sparks and Steve Kerr’s men, without Green or Curry, suffered in attack. Collectively, not much is happening on the Golden State side. When this team isn’t moving the ball, they quickly get into trouble. Rose continues to perfectly control the game of her team and New York has taken the lead (51-48).
The returns of Curry and Green allow the Warriors to find the binder in attack. The two men shine with their vision of the game and everything is better for their team (55-55). But it is New York which ends better this first period. Payton then Randle ensure in attack and the Knicks go to the locker room with four points in advance (59-55).
Good comeback from James Wiseman
Steve Kerr had to blow his mind off his players, because the Warriors are very aggressive at the start of the third quarter. Tom Thibodeau and Randle get annoyed with the refs as Curry shifts to scoring. The double MVP allows his family to inflict a 12-2 on their opponents (67-61). New York can no longer do it in attack. Green controls and directs his defense to perfection. He dominates on rebounds and speeds up the game whenever he can.
The pace of this match is no longer suitable for the Knicks who can not do anything against the magician Curry (78-65). Interesting defensively this season, New York is sinking in the face of opposing moving play. As in the first half, James Wiseman weighs on the match as soon as he enters the floor. His relationship with Green is perfect and the two men dominate the opposing racket (86-74).
Julius Randle gives it all
Annoyed, Julius Randle asks for all the balloons. He does not ask any questions and he brings his team back to the match on his own. His two award-winning shots are good for morale. Above all, they allow the players of the Big Apple to continue to believe in them. But Green, once again, finds Wiseman under the circle which scores the buzzer (94-85).
Quite often this season, the Warriors have blurted out victory after leading fairly broadly. New York knows it and Derrick Rose steps up to the plate. His four consecutive points and his offering for Obi Toppin’s 3-point shot give this game a new start. As so often, without Curry on the floor, Golden State struggles. New York was right to believe it and Elfrid Payton brings his team back to a possession (97-94).
The boss is called Stephen Curry
Called back by Kerr, Curry reassures everyone by sending in a new 3-point bomb. The Warriors star took control of the game. Constantly sought and found by Draymond Green, the Golden State legend assumes his status. His improved basket and his pass for Kelly Oubre’s dunk seem to seal the fate of this match, and he can therefore celebrate with a little dance.
New York showed some reaction in that last act, but Curry is just too strong. Annoyed, Randle collects his second technique of the match and he returns to the locker room before everyone else. Surgical on the line, Stephen Curry offers his team a 17th victory (114-106) and Golden State retains its place in the Top 8 of the Western Conference.
