In the first official match played in the newly opened “Arena Burgas” hall, “Chernomorets” defeated “Rila Sportsist” with 84:70 in the third game of the semi-final series in the NBL.
Supported by nearly 4,000 spectators, the Sharks took a 2-1 lead in the NBL semifinal series.
The guests from Samokov started the match with a streak of 10:2 and won the first part with 25:18.
“Chernomorets” gradually caught up and managed to get closer to the opponent by 3 points, following several consecutive accurate shots from the triple for both teams.
The pressure of the home team in the second quarter had an impact, and after a nice breakthrough by Munis Tutu and great shooting by Jordan Tucker, the “Sharks” took the lead for the first time in the match – 35:31.
Thus, the hosts kept their lead until the end of the first half, and the score after 20 minutes of play was 42:37.
After the break, “Rila Sportsist” shortened the distance to 41:42. However, “Chernomorets” did not allow the opponent to achieve a turnaround and at the end of the third quarter they were leading with 62:56.
“Chernomorets” reached its biggest lead in the meeting of 12 points in the first minutes of the final period – 68:56.
Several successive misses by Ludmil Hadzhisotirov’s basketball players followed, which allowed the “sharks” not only to maintain their lead, but also to achieve success with 84:70.
The best was Jordan Tucker, who scored 27 points for the victory of “Chernomorets”. Nikolay Titkov and Nikolay Georgiev scored 10 points each.
The fourth match of the series is on May 20 (Saturday), again in the “Arena Burgas” hall. It is played to three wins from five games.
