In France, protests against stricter pandemic rules are rallying 161,000 people

11,000 people took part in the demonstration in Paris, Franceinfo reports, referring to the estimates of the Ministry of the Interior.

During the protest in Paris, clashes with the police in the Champs Elysées and law enforcement officers used tear gas and water cannons against protesters.

Interior Minister Gerald Dermanen denounced the violence against police officers and journalists, and said nine people had been detained.

114,000 people took part in France last week against the government’s demands to stop the Covid-19 virus from spreading, according to Interior Ministry estimates.

Extensive demonstrations against the restrictions and new demands imposed by the government due to the pandemic also took place on Saturday in Australia, Italy and Greece.
