In France, four 200-year-old oak trees were cut down to reconstruct the burnt-out spire of Notre Dame Cathedral.
The trees grew in the former royal forest (to see photos and videos, scroll the page to the end).
The trees were planted hundreds of years ago for building ships. Many of them reached 18 meters in height and about a meter in width.
In total, about a thousand oak trees were selected in 200 forests of the country. They are planned to be cut by the end of March, and then the logs should lie down for a year and a half before processing.
As reported OBOZREVATEL, fire in Notre Dame Cathedral occurred in April 2019… Then the fire destroyed the spire of the church, part of the roof and interior decoration.
French President Emmanuel Macron has pledged to restore the building by 2024.
