in Florida – Man confesses to killing his family in the heart of Disney World

A man confessed to killing his wife, three children and the family dog at Celebration, a small community developed by Disney World next to Florida theme parks, police said Wednesday.

Anthony Todt, a 44-year-old physiotherapist, confessed to killing his wife Megan, 42, and their children Alek, Tyler and Zoe (13, 11, and 4, respectively).

“I can’t understand what can lead someone to commit such evil and horrendous acts,” Osceola County Commissioner Russ Gibson said at a press conference.

Todt, who is cooperating with the investigation, faces four counts of first-degree homicide and one for animal cruelty for also killing Breezy.

Handcuffed, wearing a white romper and surrounded by journalists, Todt was driven to a car that would take him to a county prison. The reason for the homicides is unknown.

According to the local newspaper Orlando Sentinel, public records show that it faced serious financial problems in three states of the country and was subject to federal fraud investigations.

On Monday, police found the bodies in the Todt house, but did not identify the family until Wednesday.

The Todt were missing at least since January 6 and friends and family had opened a Facebook group to search for them and share information. That was what led the police to investigate his whereabouts.

Celebration, south of Orlando and next to the theme parks, is an experimental community developed in the 1990s by the Disney World company, which no longer owns the properties.

The community is rich in urban legends, such as that Disney World hired people to walk dogs to make it look more homely and that its nearly 8,000 inhabitants have free annual passes to the theme parks (fake).
