At a press conference, Monday January 11, 2021, Hervé Maunoury made a point on the future of the hospital of Cliff.
Last July, the newly elected mayor and chairman of the supervisory board met with management, staff representatives and doctors’ representatives. From this interview, three objectives emerged: the main objective was not to close the kitchen.
“The second objective, which goes hand in hand with the third, was to reposition the hospital project in such a way as to negotiate with the State a plan for massive investments in the hospital”, confides the first magistrate of Falais.
“The Falaise hospital is one of the few hospitals in France that has gone through the drops of investment and modernization plans for 25 to 30 years. It is important today for the State to assume its responsibilities through the ARS ”.
“A hospital ready to move”
In August 2020, Hervé Maunoury met Jean-Philippe Vennin, the secretary general of the prefecture, and Magali Jacquet, the departmental director of the ARS. According to the chief magistrate of Falaise, the renovation of the kitchen was a priority non-negotiable objective in the hospital project.
“The ARS was sensitive to the speech I was able to make concerning the future of the hospital. A hospital ready to move, to question itself and innovate but which needs its supervision because it is a hospital in debt ”.
“We are on the right track”
The town hall received a notification last week. The ARS undertakes to pay almost all of the kitchen for the renovation, namely 1.6 million euros.
“It’s a great satisfaction, a strong signal because it means that the ARS is committed to our side for 20 or 30 years. Of course, this is a project that will take time ”.
Another objective: to consolidate the geriatric sector through a certain number of complementary services.
“She has an excellent reputation. We want the hospital to be recognized for its geriatric sector. We want to have a real strategy in relation to the Alma and Bernardin nursing homes, two aging structures ”.
Hervé Maunoury does not hide the fact that maintaining the kitchen had a saving effect on all the staff.
“We can see a newfound confidence in the tool. It will be long, not everything is won, there is still a lot of work. The last 6 months show, however, that we are on the right track ”.
