In Europe, new electric cars have surpassed diesels

The European Association of Automobile Manufacturers has announced quite interesting and probably expected statistics about the slow disappearance of diesel. For the first time in Europe, electric cars have surpassed diesels in new car registration volumes.

Between January and October of this year, 1.22 million diesel and 1.23 million new electric cars were registered in the countries of the European Union. In October, 14.2% of new cars had an electric engine.

In Europe, about a third of new cars are with gasoline engines, around 28% are cars with various types of hybrid engines. Although it is heard from time to time that sales of electric cars are on the decline, a 36.3% increase in sales can be seen in October, reaching less than 122,000 registered electric cars in a month.

The sale of electric cars in some countries has made a dent in the sale of so-called plug-in hybrids. Compared to last year, the sale of plug-in hybrids has fallen by 5%, although there is a strong demand for these cars in Belgium (+70.2%) and France (+34.2%). However, in Germany, the demand for plug-in hybrids fell by almost 50% compared to the same period last year.
