In Eure-et-Loir, March Jazz is betting on… September

Will the March Jazz Festival take place in 2021? “I prefer to be realistic,” replies the event’s programmer, Nicole Giraudo. For obvious reasons – the health situation which is not improving – this meeting which music lovers are impatiently awaiting cannot be held at the planned period: March and April.

L’Paille à sons Festival, in Chartres: a comeback and many questions

Rather than cancel outright, Nicole Giraudo and her team took their phone and called all the artists back to postpone the programming for a few months. Jazz de mars will therefore take place … from September 17th to October 22nd.

“I can’t imagine he couldn’t stand”

Finally, if the coronavirus crisis does not play overtime. “I can’t imagine he can’t stand,” continues Nicole Giraudo, who is also starting to get impatient.

Last week, with one hundred and fifty cultural actors from the department, she demonstrated, Place des Épars in Chartres, to demand, among other things, the reopening of performance venues. “It’s hard, we have no visibility, no date to hang on to.”

Despite these uncertainties that never cease to hover, Jazz de Mars, like other festivals in the department such as L’Paille à sons, decides to go ahead.

Nicole Giraudo continues:

“We managed to reprogram all the artists, except two: Nicolas Folmer and Kelly Lee Evans, which we postponed until 2022.”

Michel Portal: “Music drives me crazy! “

And if distant trips remain complicated, there is still music to escape, thanks in particular to cellist Ana Carla Maza (October 15 in Mainvilliers) or Uruguayan-born double bassist Vladimir Torres (October 17 in Jouy). All that’s left to do is cross your fingers!

Expo. Even if the festival is postponed, it is still symbolically present this month, through an exhibition by the famous photographer Jean-Pierre Leloir, which is held until the end of the month at the Chartres bookstore of the ‘Ampersand. All the photos gathered here are dedicated to one of the guardians of jazz: the trumpeter Miles Davis.
