Change is good. At the Joint Intermunicipal Syndicate for the collection and treatment of household waste (Sirtom) in Courville-sur-Eure, La Loupe and Senonches, the new sorting instructions came into force on January 1. For the municipalities dependent on the Sictom of Brou, Bonneval and Illiers-Combray and Nogent-le-Rotrou, it was July 1. For the inhabitants of Chartres Métropole, these new instructions have applied since Monday July 4, 2022.
What changes?
The anti-waste law for a circular economy requires local authorities to extend their sorting instructions by January 1, 2023.
premium Home delivery in Eure-et-Loir: 100% reusable packaging 100% impossible to implement
The instructions for properly sorting your waste are changing. All plastic, paper, cardboard and metal packaging must be slipped into the bins or yellow bags. The packaging will no longer need to be washed, simply well emptied before being thrown away.
These new rules should cause an increase in the tonnage of recycled products. “5,600 tonnes of recyclable waste were collected in 2021 in the Chartres conurbation. We calculated that there would be 5,700 after the entry into force of these instructions, ”announces Annick Lhermitte, vice-president of Chartres Métropole in charge of waste.
What advice?
Waste sorting should be simplified. Yogurt pots and coffee capsules can be thrown into the yellow bags. Attention, it is preferable to separate the packaging of different materials. For example, the ideal is to remove the cover from the yogurt pots but above all, not to nest the boxes between them. This could cause sort refusals.
The first lessons?
These new sorting methods have been applied since January 1 in the Sirtom area of Courville-sur-Eure, La Loupe and Senonches. Bertrand de Lacheisserie, president of the union, gives a positive assessment of these changes: “It went well despite the change because the instructions are simpler. »
Around Courville-sur-Eure, the yellow bins are increasingly green
Sirtom noted a 12% drop in the tonnage of waste but a 9% increase in the volume of recyclable products. The inhabitants seem to have adopted the right reflexes but certain habits remain stubborn. “We see a lot of brown boxes (for packaging household appliances, for example) placed in the bins for recycling. However, their place is in the recycling center, ”explains Bertrand de Lacheisserie.
As a result of these new ways of doing things, the waste is no longer transported, since January 1, to Dreux but to Saran (Loiret), in a center equipped to sort this new waste.
He rubbed it. The Natriel sorting centre, located in Dreux and managed by Sitreva, will process plastic packaging (yogurt pots, packaging films, trays) from January 1, 2023. There is therefore, for the moment, no , new sorting instructions for the 309,000 inhabitants of the 220 municipalities whose waste is treated by Natriel: Dreux conurbation, Sirtom de Rambouillet, Sirtom du Grand Châteaudun, Sirtom d’Auneau and Sirtom des Portes euréliennes d’Ile-de-France . Major works are planned for 2023 at Natriel. The site, which employs 58 people, will be expanded and modernized. It remains the only sorting center in Eure-et-Loir.
