In Estillac, the Monky is transformed into a blood collection area

In partnership with the French Blood Establishment, Monky will host a blood drive on Monday.

The next blood drive of the EFS (Établissement Français du Sang) will take place in a fun setting. On Monday, August 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., it is at the Estillac Le Monky multi-leisure complex that the EFS staff will welcome donors. This is their second partnership.

120% donors

“Le Monky and L’Indé, in Agen, lend their hall whenever they can for blood drives,” says the Monky’s communications manager. “We’re pretty happy, because people generally respond well. The last blood drive at L’Indé brought together more donors than we had expected. We had 36 people instead of 30… We had set a goal of 100%, and in the end, we reached 120% donors! It’s a great effort on everyone’s part!”

The setting can also be conducive to a more serene collection. The Monky’s vast space, with its arcade games, brings a playful air to blood donation, and perhaps helps volunteers arrive more relaxed. But we wouldn’t recommend trying laser tag, bowling or an escape game right after a donation.

“Any physical activity is strongly discouraged after a donation. You have to take the time to recharge your batteries. For that, there is the post-donation snack. Here too, Monky is a partner.”

Large banners are already up in front of Monky’s to warn of the possibility of donating blood on Monday.

With blood supplies currently very low, the EFS and the Monky team are hoping to attract people. As a reminder, ID is required, and it is imperative to have eaten and been well hydrated before donating.
