The bomb was discovered a few days ago by a private contractor who is building a third crossing over the local Yar River. Immediately after that, the police set up a strict 200-meter and an additional 400-meter cordon, blocked nearby roads and resettled some of the local residents.
As part of the security measures, a sand barrier was built around the projectile, which at the time of detonation allowed to mitigate the consequences. A few hours after the incident, the police cordons were removed and the residents of Great Yarmouth were allowed to return to their homes.
