In eight years, the rise and decline of the Mexican boy band

In 2013 there was a boy band that drove thousands of young girls crazy, filling auditoriums and arenas throughout the country, their songs were chanted by their entire audience, however this euphoria did not last forever.

This is the Mexican group CD9, a lineup made up of Jos Canela, Freddy Leyva, Alonso Villalpando, Alan Navarro and Bryan Mouque, which had some ups and downs during the eight years it was in activity, until 2021 when it disintegrated.

During this time the youth band released four studio albums: “CD9”, “Evolution”, “3/4” and “1.0”, as well as the following tours The party tour, Evolution tour, Revolution tour and Modo airplane tour.

This band grew in fame thanks to social networks, including the YouTube platform where they shared their videos and vlogs that teenagers and girls loved.

CD9’s success was not only in Mexico, but also abroad, as they toured Latin America, the United States and Spain, consolidating their fan base.

His popularity was so great that he even held the Guinness record in 2016 for the largest number of albums signed by an artist: which went to 30,000 people for 18 hours.

At the peak of success, the group won several awards and recognitions such as MTV MIAW, Telehit Awards, Kids’ Choice Awards, among others.

The concerts they performed were characterized by having elaborate choreographies, visual effects and especially a strong interaction with their fans, which will be repeated at the Mexico City Arena on July 19 when they reunite after three years of absence.

This date is already completely sold out, so a second date was just announced on August 30, in this same venue with tickets ranging from 565 pesos to 4,380 pesos.

In 2018 the group declared that they would take a temporary hiatus only so that its members could explore individual projects, but they clarified that it was not a definitive separation, which occurred until 2021 when the group became extinct, news that they announced on social networks. .

“We enjoyed a memorable trip together and there are not enough words to express and thank you for being our travel companions on this crazy adventure. We want to thank each and every one of the coders for all their dedication, their passion, their patience and above all for their infinite understanding,” the band said.

“There were years of giving our all, non-stop. That is why, to remain faithful, to ourselves and to you, we needed a pause, to give ourselves a break and dedicate ourselves to our individual plans,” the members added.

But in April 2023 they met at an event organized by TikTok and now they are preparing for the next shows in Mexico City.
