The State Secretary of Education, Gerardo Monroy Serrano, indicated that during the current school year the bet is on face-to-face classes, although he said he was implementing a hybrid model with remote work.
“I want to ratify the modality is distance and face-to-face, without a doubt this time they are betting a lot on the presence, on the face-to-face, that does not mean that it is forced or that the teachers who do not go will have any sanction” , he expressed.
Asked about the doubts of parents about whether there will be online classes or distance work, the state official indicated that there will be accompaniment of teachers.
“There is support, each teacher and each school is working on that coordination of efforts and they are reaching an agreement, derived from the number of students that are presented to each campus.
“That is what the guideline is going to mark us, as you know, I insist it is voluntary – the return – and it will depend on that moment for the teachers to make the decision, the hours that will be at a distance and the hours that will be in person” , he pointed.
But will they be classes, are they virtual classes, not just online jobs? He was asked.
“I insist, they are putting in agreement to the elements that are had in each one of the establishments.
“There are schools that have 100% connectivity, there are schools that prefer via WhatsApp, there are schools that agree in rural areas, for example that prefer to do it with booklets, with textbooks with WhatsApp messages” , he claimed.
He mentioned that during the pandemic, greater communication between teacher and student has been achieved, in addition to the willingness and sum of efforts of parents.
Voluntary
Regarding some reports from parents where teachers have suggested face-to-face activity to provide better care or follow-up to minors, Monroy Serrano stressed that it is not possible to force them to take a certain modality.
“I insist, the governor’s instruction that he gave to the Ministry of Education is nothing by force, everything by reason, by consensus and voluntarily.”
In addition, he added, there is a willingness on the part of the school community to work.
He recognized the teachers for their effort and dedication throughout the past school year, which took place remotely, as well as in the last four months of the 2019-2020 cycle.
“In the distance mode they have gone to each of the houses to accompany, leave work, homework to the students,” he said.
He urged parents to report if there is any kind of coercion or if they are forced to take a certain educational modality.
Support
He assured that yesterday all the educational establishments were opened and in the next few hours the precise data of how many students returned in person will be known.
In the buildings that had electricity problems, he assured that it has been restored after holding a dialogue with the authorities of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).
“Almost 100% of us will be lit from today (yesterday), the issue of water is being worked on with the municipal authorities.” he pointed.
