The press service of the Holy See reports that Pope Francis will be on tour in Bahrain from 3 to 6 November.

The main purpose of the trip is to participate in the dialogue forum “East and West for Human Coexistence” (“Bahrain Forum for Dialogue: East and West for Human Coexistence”). The visit program and further details will be published later. This will be the first time that a Pope will visit Bahrain. He will come to this country at the invitation of the state and the ecclesiastical authorities.
On 19 May 2014, Francis received the King of Bahrain, His Majesty Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in the Vatican. The Pope and his guest focused on various themes of common interest, paying particular attention to peace and stability in the Middle East, as well as to the promotion of dialogue and peaceful coexistence among the members of society. The positive contribution of the Christian community of Bahrain to the country was also mentioned. King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalif was praised for his personal concern for the needs of the local Catholic community.
On 2 March 2020, the Pope also met with representatives of Bahrain – Crown Prince, His Highness Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and members of the delegation to the Vatican.
